Men's LifeGroup Making Changes
For the month of January the Men's Wednesday LifeGroup will be meeting in the modular helping with the remodeling. Alan McClure will be leading us.
After that, the group will take a change of direction that is still being sought after. Perhaps it will be hosted in a home. Or move to a different night. Or change times. It will definetly have a new leader as Pastor Mark will be stepping aside to let another lead this LifeGroup.
This change has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Pastor Mark got stuck with the gag gift at the Men's LifeGroup Gift Exchange. Honest.

Men's Retreat - ROCKED!
Wow! We had a totally amazing time at our retreat this past weekend.
The lodging was awesome, the steaks and Friday were great, and each man successfully fasted on Saturday. We had a great time of "break-fast" together on Sunday morning.
10 men were led by Pastor Mark as they followed the Wild At Heart video curriculum. Men courageously went forward in seeking full release from God to be the men that He wants them to be.
A Spring retreat of similar type is being planned.

Word of Propehcy - 10-06-08, 10 am service
Family Life believes in the practice of the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit as taught in 1 Corinthians chapters 12-14, and most specifically in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 and 14:26-32.
The most frequent uses of these gifts are the verbal gifts of “a word of prophecy” and an “utterance in tongues with interpretation.”
We were able to capture and transcribe a recent demonstration in one of our services. 1 Corinthians 14:29 tells us to “weigh carefully what was said” in the use of these gifts.
I have not forgotten history
I look at my hands and see the nail scars
I have not forgotten
But I have forgiven all of the things done unto me
Can you do any less than I?
I have forgiven you of your sins – no matter how great or how small
Because you see, those sins and transgressions to me are all equal
It does not matter how small - how great - how little - how big
I have forgiven you
Never-the-less, this is what I ask of you
I am not asking you to do anything I have not already done
I am asking you to forgive each other, live together in harmony
This is the only way you can do it, forgiveness is the only way
You can live together harmoniously
Not look at each other with spite and bitterness and hatred
But to look at each other as I look at you
Look through my eyes today
And see what I see, when you are clean before me
You can’t stand in my presence the way you are
Without forgiveness, because I see my son, I see who He is
I have given the ultimate
That is why I can ask for you to give all because I did
Do it because I ask you

Water Baptism Service and Pictures
“Upon profession of your faith in the Lord Jesus, I now baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.”
These words were said by Pastor Mark Lehman 7 times at the Water Baptismal service on Sunday August 10th at the combined 10am service. It was held at the YMCA and the indoor pool was used. The following people were baptized: Alvin Jackson, Molly Sands, Tim Snider, Jimmy Petty, Matthew Baker, Alyx Mcghee, and Allen McDaniel.
FLAG has a baptismal service once a year in a location such as the YMCA or the originally scheduled location of Lincoln Park, before all the rain. These locations are large enough to combine the three services and provide other benefits. Pastor Mark said that it makes the baptismal more public and a celebration.
Immediately following the service was a FLAG family picnic at Lincoln Park. The church provided brisket, drinks, and a Baptismal cake. Families brought side dishes. Kids at the picnic enjoyed the free Kiddieland rides and the playground area.
If you have any pictures to share of today's Water Baptism service please email them over.
Here are the pics we have already collected!

Water Outreach
Last week FLAG did a water outreach on July 4th at Lincoln Park handing out free water bottles. A total of about 1,500 bottles were given to people from the hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This is the 7th year that FLAG has done this at Lincoln Park during the July 4th festivities.
FLAG does outreaches like this to show Christ's love in practical and tangible ways.
The free water on at hot day did just that and met another need as well.
“Providing water on a hot day in July is the perfect way to meet a dire physical need—hydration—and to begin meeting spiritual needs by planting the first seeds of evangelism—caring friendship,” said Pastor Nathan Burcham.
FLAG had two tents up in the park. One of them housed the water and the individuals handing out the water. The other tent was home to two fans that put out a cool mist.
There were different groups of volunteers cycling in and out about every two hours during the water outreach. The number of volunteers for the day was about 25.
The people that visited those two tents were appreciative.
“Many of the people receiving water were very pleased that we were doing this for the community. Over the years FLAG has become associated with this act of community service and many individuals noted that they appreciated FLAG doing this for so many years,” said Burcham.

Royal Ranger's Fishing Trip and Upcoming Camp Out
The life group Royal Rangers (ages 6-12) meets on Wednesday night 7-8 p.m. at FLAG. The average attendance is 5-8 boys. There are 4 men leaders that are always there during the group's weekly time.
On Wednesday nights the group has been studying bible stories and lessons from the Old Testament. They are studying one book at a time and have studied 5-6 books so far. In the future there are plans to continue a study of the Old Testament and its prophets, such as Neamiha and men's activities.
“We are building leaders for tomorrow,” said Snider.
This summer the group has been trying to do more outdoor activities.
Earlier this summer the group took a fishing trip the evening of June 13th at George's pond (a private residence). In attendance were 6 boys, 1 girl (a ssister), 4 male leaders, and 2 fathers.
Pictured (left to right) is Steve Snider, Alex McCleod, and Hayden McCleod.
Click here to see a bunch of other photo's from this trip!
The group does activities like this because of the opportunities it provides.
“They (the activities) are a teaching time (for skills), wholesome together time, and a time to eat and play together, “said Steve Snider group leader.
Another activity that Royal Rangers did this summer is a bike trail to Wilderness Park.
An upcoming activity for the group is this coming weekend, a camp out, July 25-26. The festivities begin at 7pm Friday night and last until noon on Saturday. Required items include a sleeping bag and a flash light.
The camp out will be located directly behind FLAG. There will be games activities, food and drink. In case of rain the group will migrate into the church, The boys will learn night skills, and camping skills, and camp fire skills.
“It is a great group of boys!” said Snider. He also said he looks forward to seeing this group grow.
There is still time to join the group on the camp out this weekend! Call leader Steve Snider at 620-231-0158 for more information about the camp out, or for general information about the Royal Rangers group.

FLAG 101
On the weekend of June 20, 21, and 22, twelve people attended FLAG 101. Pastor Mark holds FLAG 101 about every 2-3 months. It is designed for people who are considering making FLAG church their home.
Pictured left to right at the BBQ playing the game Bocce (note the blue ball in the air) is Josiah Bayless, Addison Bayless, Russell Taylor, Pastor Nathan Burcham,Conner Lehman, Pastor Mark Lehman, Jay Kramer, and Greyson Kramer.
The 3 evenings totaled 7 hours and covered a variety of topics. The first 2 sessions were held at the church. Friday night was about the basic beliefs of FLAG and the Assembly of Gods are.
On Saturday the discussion was about how your finances, gifts/talents can be used in the church. Speaking in tongues and the Holy Spirit was also talked about.
For the last session everyone met at Pastor Mark's home for BBQ and the last few topics of church government, business meetings, and membership.
Linda Garrow was also positive about the weekend session and how it gave her helpful information, and a chance to get acquainted with 9 or 10 other people.
“I think it is beneficial for anyone wanting to learn about FLAG's philosophy,” said Garrow.
Anyone who would like more information about FLAG 101 should contact Pastor Mark, the church's number is (620)232-FLAG.

Nathan Burcham's First Sunday
FLAG recently hired Nathan Burcham as the new college and worship pastor.
On Sunday, May 25 he came and led worship and after the 3rd service the congregation was invited to eat lunch at Wheat State Pizza with Nathan.
“I was very impressed with the hospitality of the people, especially how open they were with someone new to them,” said Burcham.
Nathan returned Sunday, June 8 as a new staff member.
He summed his first Sunday as staff as “delightfully scary” and commented on how people made him feel welcome.
“I felt like I was already integrated into the FLAG family and that people were excited to see me,” said Burcham. After 3 services his fingers were still holding up, but his voice was losing some stamina.“I made an effort to get myself into 'guitar shape.' I should have focused a little bit more on 'vocal shape' because my fingers lasted much longer than my voice,” said Burcham.
Nathan has a strong background in Assembly of God churches. His father has pastored A/G churches all of his life and he went to Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, TX. He majored in church ministries and received an additional associate of arts in Business Administration while in college. He will be beginning his Master's degree in Theology through distance education this fall.
Although Nathan is moving from the Dallas metroplex, he is already somewhat familiar with this area. He was born in Iola, KS, but then quickly moved to Caldwell for thirteen years. He completed his high school years outside of Lawrence, KS.
What brought him back to Kansas?
“My parents informed me of the position (they are friends of Pastor Mark and Sarah.) They told me about this job opening and I submitted my resume to Pastor Mark. It only took twenty minutes for him to call me back," said Burcham. “After talking with the pastor about the church and the community, I had a desire to fill the position.”
Some of the things that he is looking forward to at FLAG include remembering everyone's name, kicking off CHI ALPHA in the fall, and becoming a part of the Pittsburg community.
Here are some fun facts about Nathan:
Favorite Color: crimson and blue
Birthday: October 14, 1985
Favorite movie(s): The original Star Wars trilogy
Favorite food: peanut butter sandwich
Favorite dessert: chocolate cake
Hobbies: basketball, Ultimate Frisbee, playing bass guitar, and drinking Starbuck's coffee
Favorite Quote: “Christians can be relevant in today's society if they see the invisible, speak of the unmentionable, care for the unlovable, seize the unreachable, an draw closer to the Infinite.”-unknown

Wild Youth To Fuddruckers and Lazercity
Last month on May 16th , 21 youth group members and 4 adult sponsors went to Fuddruckers and Lazercity in Joplin, MO.
Pictured at right are some of the youth members who attended (left to right) adult sponsor Jennifer Navaratnam, Alvin Jackson, Dong Cheol, Kyle Johnson, Bryan McClure and friends.
The youth group takes trips for several reasons.
“Trips are a time for teens to build relationships with other teens. It is a timefor them to relax and have fun,” said youth leader Anthony Navaratnam. “It is also an opportunity for them to invite their non-church going friends to hang out with the groupand show them how much fun Youth can be.”
Future trips/ activities for the youth group include a back to summer bash, fishing/airsoft, and a camping trip.
The youth group regularly meets at FLAG on Wednesday nights at 7pm. On average 26 teens attend.
They just completed a study on prayer. It focused on the 3 places you need to visit, the power of prayer, and how personal and supernatural battles are won with prayer.
“This was a series that lead up to camp, preparing our teens for camp,” said Navaratnam.
Please be in prayer for FLAG youth as some of them are at camp this week, June 9-13 for high school, others will go June 23-27 for middle school camp. May they come back with a new spark and excitement in their faith!
For more information about Youth Group and Youth activities please contact Anthony Navaratnam at (620)-231-1415.

Response From "Conquering Complaining"
I have heard much feedback from this message already. I think the Holy Spirit is using it to convict our hearts. Yeah! Let's stay convictable before Him!
One group went out to lunch and every other statement they made they added the phrase, "but, I am not complaining.)
If you weren't here, the message is worth listening to, and it is right here.

Word of Prophecy - 05-11-08
Recent Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Family Life believes in the practice of the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit as taught in 1 Corinthians chapters 12-14, and most specifically in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 and 14:26-32.
The most frequent uses of these gifts are the verbal gifts of “a word of prophecy” and an “utterance in tongues with interpretation.”
We were able to capture and transcribe a recent demonstration in one of our services. 1 Corinthians 14:29 tells us to “weigh carefully what was said” in the use of these gifts.
I watch your life everyday
The delays that come in your life are not by accident
I have a designed a purpose
I want to draw you close to Me
There are times that you run away from me
You scurry about – but I ask you just to stop
Take a moment – take time with me – know who I am
If I took time to number the hairs on your head
Do you not know that I just want to walk with you?
I just want to be with you
Take time – know that I am your God
Yes – I can move those mountains
There is no load too heavy for me
There is no rock so big that I cannot move
But many times you stumble over the small things
You become irritated when delays come
When they’re really purposes for me to get in touch with you
So I again say to you – be aware
As you walk through your days
Know that I am there
No matter where you travel
No matter how far you go
I was there the day you were born
I will receive you at the end
